Purpose

The Academy’s mission and role in advancing international commercial and consumer law scholarship.

Our Skills and Expertise

The principal purpose of the Academy is to encourage the global exchange of ideas among leading scholars in commercial and consumer law. This exchange takes place through several complementary channels.

One of the most important mechanisms is the international meeting of members, held every two years. At these conferences, members discuss current legal challenges, recent developments, and emerging trends. Selected members present scholarly papers, which are followed by in-depth discussions among participants. These papers are subsequently published and are available in law libraries throughout the world.

In addition to formal conferences, the Academy fosters scholarly exchange through ongoing correspondence and personal interaction among members. When members travel internationally, they may contact fellow members in other countries. If mutually convenient, they meet to discuss developments in their respective fields. This informal collaboration strengthens international understanding while allowing members to participate voluntarily and without obligation.

Recognition of Scholarly Excellence

Another essential purpose of the Academy is to recognize scholars who have achieved distinction in commercial and consumer law through research, teaching, writing, and contributions to legal reform.

Academic scholarship requires significant dedication, yet meaningful recognition is often limited. Membership in the Academy provides acknowledgment of individuals whose work has achieved national or international distinction. Through this recognition, the Academy honors scholarly excellence and promotes continued advancement in the field.
